Dockdrop Released
March 2nd, 2008After several months of hard development, I’ve finally released Dockdrop. You can find out more about it and grab a copy at http://dockdropx.com
There are many more features I plan on adding including support for even more protocols, Quicksilver integration, Adium/iChat/Mail integration and a whole bunch of other stuff that will have to wait for future releases.
Meanwhile, enjoy version 1 and let me know what you think of it.

Would be cool if you could make it quit automatically after uploading files. Since it’s such a lightweight application it doesn’t matter if you have to upload another file, it takes no time to start up.
Thanks!

Found it on MacUpdate and gave it a whirl.
Typed in my Photobucket FTP details, threw a JPG at the dock, and it was up there in no time
Lookin’ good. I can really see myself using this.
Cheers.

Very cool app! It will be great if it supports more than one scp sites. Maybe allow me put several icons on the dock which correspond to different sites.

Looks very cool, but I’m missing the possibility to add more then one SCP/FTP servers

Used it for Flickr and worked great. Only suggestion is to be able to upload more than one image or even a whole folder at a time.
Love the sleekness of it. Great work.

Very cool. An interesting additino would be an option for parsing date/time formatting codes in the destination path. I usually upload files in a datestamped directory, ie ~/public_html/2008/03/03/. Would be neat if Dockdrop accepted ~/public_html/%Y/%m/%d/ as a destination, creating parent directories as necessary.
Thanks for the tool.

Very handy app!
Just my two cents: I’d like to see a widget with the same functionality, because there’s no more space in my Dock

Absolutely - and a lot of other people have mentioned that this is something they would like also. I will look at adding this ability.

I’m so glad you like it! Thanks for the feedback. I am definitely going to allow folders with multiple files inside to be uploaded to Flickr in the next release so keep an eye out.

That’s a really great idea, and someone else suggested something similar so I might have to add this to my feature list for the next version. It’s really tricky working out what to implement and what to leave out as I have received so many feature request!
Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks GK. I will give that some thought.

Just another idea: Amazon S3 support.

Congratulations to a very nice little program
One thing that would make it even better is to have some history like Jing has its history.
Often i need to post a link from yesterday or something like that.. and to be able to bring up a history list and get that url would be perfect.
Thanks

Kevin-
I’d love to add S3 support, and the underlying framework Dockdrop uses does support it so you may see this feature added in the not to distant future.

Awesome app! A solid 1.0 release. Nice job!
I’ll through in my vote for multiple ftp configurations as well. Another great feature would be the ability to zip the files automatically.

Paul-
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Dockdrop currently does have the ability to zip files automatically. If you drop a folder on the icon it will zip it up and upload for FTP, WebDAV and SCP.

I might be daft, but all I’m getting is an error “Filename not Allowed”
Trying the FTP connection. It says there’s a successful connection, I created an upload folder in the root, chmodded it to 777.
What am I doing wrong?
March 11th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Bob-
That error tends to indicate that the path field is set wrong. Double check that your path is setup correctly.

Thanks John for making it and sharing it with everyone. I like the auto zipping, nice touch. Having multiple sites would be a nice feature.
I do have one problem and I’ve heard of it from one other person - the url never shows up in the clipboard.
I’m stumped as to what it could be, I have a very new macbook and a very current and clean install of leopard.
Any ideas?

Tony-
No problems! I’m glad you like the app. To have the URL show up on the clipboard you have to fill in the Web URL field when configuring the upload method. Did you do this?
